Our French Educators

123 Petits Pas was started by a French Immersion certified teacher, Madame Amy, who began by holding Mommy/Daddy & Me French classes in Ottawa's West End. However, as soon as classes began, the need for additional French classes throughout other areas of the city became evident and Mme Amy began her search for like-minded French educators. Each of our educators are very approachable individuals who have a passion for French language teaching; they all aim to create a comfortable and engaging learning atmosphere for their participants- after all, that is what 123 Petits Pas is all about!

123 Petits Pas now has a team of 5 French educators running programs throughout the city. Take a peek below to learn a little about each of our French Educators:

Mme Amy

Mme Amy is the owner of 123 Petits Pas and teaches the Mommy & Me French Classes in Westboro, Hintonburg, the Glebe, and Barrhaven.

Bonjour les amis! I am so happy that you have an interest in playing a part in your child's French language learning journey and I'm here to make it as fun and easy as possible! My programs are action & song oriented in order to ensure an engaging and interactive experience for both parent and child alike. My goal behind 123 Petits Pas is to ensure that ANYONE has the ability to introduce the French language ASAP - no matter how little or how much prior knowledge they have to begin. By creating a comfortable, judgement-free learning zone, everyone is able to learn together one little step at a time. ;) To learn more about how and why 123 Petits Pas all began, check out this interview with Mme Amy by Ottawa Neighbours

Mme Vanessa

Mme Vanessa currently teaches our Toddler French class in Kanata as well as a weekly French Circle time at a Home Daycare.

Bonjour! I’m Mme Vanessa and mother of Yohanna and Amelia. Most of the time, I’m smiling and having fun with my girls outdoors. I have been teaching for over ten years in different environments, including Sunday school at church, tutoring, and in university. My warm personality will help you and your child learn in a friendly environment. The numerous hugs and smiles I get from the kids I teach are my greatest reward. I look forward to meeting you in class!...I might also teach you some dance moves straight from Africa! ;)

Mlle Kaitlynn

Mlle Kaitlynn currently teaches our Toddler French class in Orleans and is a full-time ECE at Kids Kingdom's Daycare.

January 2019 will be Mlle Kaitlynn's third round of teaching with 123 Petits Pas. She is a graduate from the "Formation en services à l'enfance" program with La Cité.

A past participant recently sent in a rave review regarding Kaitlynn's teaching style: "Madame Kaitlynn was patient and engaging, she made sure to speak to each child individually and made them feel like they were part of the group. We really appreciated that. Kaitlynn was always energetic and kept the class moving! We look forward to the next class." (S.D)

Mme Cécile

Mme Cécile currently teaches our Adult French class as well as our Infant French class in Kanata.

Mme Cécile is from Provence, France and is the mother of 2 sweet little girls (ages 4 and 7). She is here due to very cool circumstances; her family has swapped homes with an Ottawa family for 1 year! Here's a little background on what drove Mme Cécile to join our team: "The birth of my children changed my life. Throughout 15 years of my career in France I was a workaholic engineer and didn’t have time to watch my babies grow up; so, last year, I decided to quit my job and work from home. When my girls were babies it was natural to speak and sing to them in different languages: English, German, Italian, Japanese, and French. I quickly noticed how much babies love languages! I love books and read to my children everyday (at least 1 book in English or French) and now my oldest reads to me before bedtime. :o) I am so proud of my girls because, after 2 months in a Canadian school, they understand and have begun to speak, read, and write in both languages! Being bilingual is one of the greatest gifts and, for these reasons, it was so natural for me to propose my help to Amy and to work alongside her passionate personality. Thank you for this opportunity!

Mme Mélissa

Mme Mélissa currently teaches our Barrhaven Mommy/Daddy & MeFrench classes.

My name is Melissa and I am a seasoned educator. I come from a very diverse background of teaching French to children aged 0-7. I am also a mother of four rambunctious kids (7,5 and 2 year old twins). J’ai hâte de vous offrir la possibilité de developer vos compétences en langue Française avec nos chansons, nos jeux et nos activités diverses!
I first experienced 123 Petits Pas as a participant. I was so amazed and thankful to have found a fun and energetic French class for our twins! What a formidable asset to our young children growing up in Bilingual Ottawa! I can say that it was by the 3rd class that my little girl started singing Mme Amy’s songs! Proof that they are real sponges at a young age
