Why We Don’t Offer Weekly In-Person French Classes
(And Why That Might Actually Be Better for Your Family!)
We get this question a lot:
“Do you offer in-person classes?”
It’s a great question—and an important one.
At 123 Petits Pas, our weekly programs are designed to be virtual on purpose. Not because we can’t go back to in-person after Covid…but because we found this model genuinely works better for most families.
Let’s take a look at why virtual French learning might be the perfect fit for yours.
Virtual = Comfort, Flexibility & Consistency
We’re not just offering screen-time—we’re offering an experience your family can fully enjoy from home.
That means:
- ❌ No rushing to get out the door
- ❌ No missed classes due to colds, big emotions, or weather
- ❌ No struggling to juggle baby gear, nap times, or busy schedules
Instead, families can:
- ✅ log in when it works
- ✅ snuggle up together (often in pyjamas!)
- ✅ replay lessons whenever they want
- ✅ get the huge added bonus of being able to replay tunes / lessons for pronunciation support & practice
What happens when you bring French INTO your home?
Here’s something I witnessed again and again when I offered in-person classes:
Many children took weeks to warm up (often 1/3 of a session).
The new space… unfamiliar faces… bright lights or new routines—it could all feel overwhelming for little ones.
But Now?
At home, your child is:
- In their comfort zone
- Surrounded by familiar toys and people
- Free to engage in a way that feels natural
And when they feel safe and relaxed, they’re more open to learning—especially something as rich and nuanced as a new language.
Here’s something really special:
When French happens in your kitchen, living room, or backyard—it becomes more than just a “school subject.”
“French isn’t just something we do in a classroom environment. It’s a language. We use it to communicate while we play & go about our days.”
That mindset shift is powerful when it comes to raising bilingual children.
This could look like:
- Singing French songs while tidying
- Talking about “les couleurs” while drawing
- Using French vocabulary on a nature walk
You’re bringing French into your home—making French feel more comfortable & natural for your child.
Lower Costs, Higher Value
By staying virtual, we reduce overhead and pass those savings on to you. Instead of $25–$30 per session for in-person classes, our pricing is designed to be family-friendly and accessible across Canada.
You’ll receive:
- Weekly lessons (live or on-demand)
- Hands-on activities (baking, science experiments, crafts, and more!)
- Printable resources
- Song lyrics & pronunciation support tools
- Access to recordings via a participant website
+ No missed class ever means no missed content (and we can continue building upon your learning without interruptions!).
Life Happens—And We Plan For That
Consistency in language learning matters…but parenting isn’t always predictable!
With little ones, routines shift, naps change, and unexpected illnesses pop up far too often for our liking! That’s why our virtual model is designed with real life in mind.
Never miss a class:
- Every class is recorded and available for replay
24/7 Pronunciation Support / Song Review:
- Families can revisit their lessons as often as they like
We can build upon your learning:
- You never have to “fall behind” or feel lost if you miss a class, you always have the opportunity to catch up!
We Can Reach More Families (Including Yours)
Thanks to our virtual structure, we support families from coast to coast—and even internationally!
You don’t need to live in a major city or speak French yourself.
If you have an internet connection, a curious child, and a desire to learn together, you’re in.
🫶🏽 Connection Still Comes First
Our virtual French programs are filled with:
- Parent & child bonding experiences
- Warm educators and lots of laughter
- Hands-on learning opportunities with movement & music
You’re not logging into a passive video.
Our families see their 123 Petits Pas French classes as their family hobby. 🙂
Do we offer any in-person opportunities?
For special pop-up events in Ottawa (and sometimes other cities too)? Absolutely—I love seeing families in person when I can! 💕
These special one-time events allow me to meet my participants one-on-one: it’s such an incredible moment and makes the next time they login with me feel all the more special!
But for weekly consistent learning?
Virtual is here to stay. It works better for most families, keeps costs down, and allows for the consistency, comfort, and flexibility you need to actually follow through and succeed.
I’m not just teaching French—I’m helping bring French into your daily life. 💛
And that’s a gift we can offer from anywhere.
