Announcing Exciting News: Funding Received for “Le Guide Parent: French Learning Kits for Families”

We are thrilled to share that 123 Petits Pas Inc. has been awarded funding from ACFO Ottawa and Canadian Heritage through the Bilingual Ottawa Project

This support is making it possible to bring our project, Le Guide Parent: French Learning Kits for Families, to life, and we couldn’t be more excited to share the details with you.

What Is Le Guide Parent: French Learning Kits for Families?

This initiative is designed to empower parents in the Ottawa area to confidently introduce French to their children at home. We’ll be creating and distributing 1,000 printed kits through schools, libraries, daycare centres, and community hubs across the region. These kits are tailored to make French learning fun, accessible, and stress-free for families of all backgrounds, even for parents who don’t speak French themselves.

What’s Inside Each Kit?

Every kit is thoughtfully packed with resources to ensure a seamless and engaging French learning experience for families:

  • Bilingual Parent Guide: Filled with practical tips and answers to common questions, this guide helps families integrate French learning into everyday routines.

  • Printable Cheat Sheets & Activities: Fun and interactive materials like a scavenger hunt and room-specific vocabulary charts will engage children in playful learning.

  • Digital Resources: A QR code provides access to songs, mini-lessons, and parent support videos to deepen the learning experience.

Beyond the Kits: Bilingual Story Time Events

To complement the kits, we’re organizing three bilingual story time events at local libraries. These sessions will:

  • Introduce families to the kit contents.

  • Encourage community engagement by bringing anglophone and francophone families together.

  • Boost parents’ confidence in using the kits at home.

Why This Project Matters

Through Le Guide Parent: French Learning Kits for Families, we’re not just providing tools for language learning—we’re creating opportunities for connection, inclusion, and cultural enrichment.

  • Vitality: By distributing these kits through schools and libraries, we’re extending francophone culture to primarily anglophone spaces, fostering a sense of belonging and appreciation for bilingualism.

  • Inclusion: The kits are designed to be family-friendly and engaging, welcoming families of all backgrounds who are new to French learning.

  • Community Building: The bilingual story times will serve as bridges, connecting anglophone and francophone families while celebrating the beauty of bilingualism.

Acknowledgement

This project would not have been possible without the generous support of ACFO Ottawa, Canadian Heritage, and the Bilingual Ottawa Project. Their commitment to fostering bilingualism and cultural inclusivity has been instrumental in bringing this initiative to life.

We are proud to be part of a collective effort to create a more bilingual and inclusive Ottawa, and we look forward to distributing these kits and hosting events that will inspire families to begin their bilingual journey with confidence and joy.

What’s Next?

Stay tuned for updates on distribution locations, event dates, and more! We can’t wait to see these kits in the hands of parents and children, creating lasting impacts in our community.

Thank you so much for your continued support of 123 Petits Pas Inc. and our mission to make French learning fun, accessible, and inclusive for all families.
